so i know we all hate the tabs we have and how they always break off and that honda wants way too much money for a lil piece of plastic  soo... i since my tabs were both broken i decided to think of an alternative. so i thought why not use a cabinet knob, so i went to the home depot and found some knobs for 98 cents, they are black, and screwed right on. they also dont stick out as far and are just about flush with the seat, so they wont catch at all when you fold the seat down. so here is the product/part number:

My wagon has a bare roof and I've been on the hunt for a roof rack to carry a couple bikes. Finding an affordable new rack that isn't the suction cup type has proved to be a challenge. I came across this old JDM rack on eBay, I'm curious if it's really "rare" and worth what the seller's asking, and also what the relative carrying capacity might be if anyone knows. I don't want to punch holes in my roof for a rack that isn't worth it either.
<div data-embedjson="{"body":"Color is black.

No manufacturers list a rack for our cars anymore, as far as I can find. It looks like I could piece together a new permanently installed Yakima, but that gets expensive real fast. I feel like maybe one of these clamp on SportRack brand ones fit even though it doesn't list wagons, they keep coming up under universal rack searches and the mounting style seems pretty straightforward. The site has no specs/measurements though. I emailed the company but haven't gotten any response.

https://www.sportrack.com/product-category/roof-racks/

Feedback appreciated

Searched for awhile and didn't see much about this. My rockers are real crunchy underneath the plastic and I have the typical rear fender edge rot. Obviously no replacement panels exist, wondering if anyone had tried using most of the sedan panels, cutting off parts at the edges that aren't compatible. I'm kinda into the idea of replacing the plastic panel with smooth metal rockers like on the sedan, given that they are long enough. As far as the quarters go, maybe they are relatively the same fender line and shape as the sedan and one could use all but the bit by the taillight. I did resto work on several Beetles at a shop several years ago and those panels never quite fit right and always had to be modded around the edges to work with the car, which is what got my gears turning.

Quarter:
<div data-embedjson="{"body":"This Lower Quarter Panel fits Honda Civic 88-91 4 door vehicles; this is a slip-on, patch panel or rust repair part.

Upon trying to fix my janky seats. I learned that they are (probably) 90s Civic seats shoddily mounted into my 89 Civic. The seat pan is the kind that has the side mounts, not the original bottom mounts. I have an extra set of original seat sliders, but because my seats' pan are side mount, my brackets are no use. Does anyone have advice, or know where I could look for the right kind of pan?

Apparently if I can get a new pan, I could probably keep my old seats, but just swap pans, which is ideal for me. Should I just look for any old seat pan from my era of Civic at a junkyard? I'd prefer to not have to pay an arm and a leg for new non-Honda looking seats.

Thanks!

Ek 4door,ek4/ek9 foglight retrofit

I’ve seen a lot of these done on ppls builds but haven’t seen a write up on how they made it possible, so let me do some of the hard work for y’all today. This how to use ek4/ek9, ek 4door fog light kits and fit them to work on a 90-91 wagon usdm bumper (I believe this will work for the 88-89 bumper but can’t promise you that).

These fog lights are by no means a plug and play system and ⚠️does require you to cut away two small 3x4in sections out of the front metal fascia/rad support. If your not willing to cut a little of your support out these light will not fit and arent the set up for you. The problem is they are about 2 inch to deep and hit behind the bumper so you need to make the clearance for it to work. You will also need to remake the top brackets so some metal work is needed but not overly complicated.

Please remember by no means am I a professional car builder or manufacturer and any idiot with time and patience can do this, also by no means am I saying this is the only way or THE way it has to be done but this is the way I’ve achieve my out come and hopefully this helps you have a positive one too or at least give you some inspiration to do something similar. That being said let get started here what tools you’ll end up needing.

Tools

Saw all or metal cut off wheel

razor blade

screw drivers

10mm socket

file or sandpaper

paint & primer

sheet metal

Here what I installed

So I ordered this “aftermarket” stock light recreate of ek foglight kit in the thoughts of I’d mess around with them if they fit really nice and easy I’d keep them if not they could be returned in 30day, thanks you Jeff bezos lol. I also was expecting very poor quality and was very mistaken when they arrived. The lens feel almost like glass and feel very solid my only complaint is the ones I got have a h1 light that looks to be wired to a universal two prong harness plug so replacing this bulb down the line may be a little hassle but not the worse thing. I’m sure if you find a real official Honda set of these fog lights they come with just a normal bulb clip. The plus side of this kit is it comes with brackets (top&bottom) and a full pre-made wiring harness with relays and clips all solder, I ended up cutting my harness up a little to extend the harness to fit my wire tuck route and ocd needs lol. You will need to take the top brackets and use them as a template to make your new top brackets and you can repurpose the bottom brackets.

I used the original top ek brackets (black brackets pictured) to make a paper template of where the bolt/hook point and the side set screw mount too, then ended up extending the front of it about 2.5inches (20g raw steel bracket pictured).

You can see the originally ek bracket mounts to the back where I’ve made mine come forward for it to slide in between the bumper and foam pad. I added that small kink in the front arm to make the bracket sit more flush and bring that bolt/hook point even with the bumper. You can slide the brackets in between the foam keep semi in placed while you try to mock up your final the angle and fitment. Once I was happy with the placement and fitment you gotta repeat again for the other side. Of course prime and paint your raw brackets once your pleased with them so they don’t rust (or make them from aluminum).

I ended up riveting all the brackets straight to the bumper so the lights ends up hooking into the top and hooking to the bottom lip in the grill. The side set screw is what fully secures the light to the top bracket. I ended up repurposing the bottom bracket by grinding away the bottom so that in could fit into the space of the bottom lip of the bumper in order to help add support to the grill hook point. Note: By no means do you have to use the bottom bracket since the bumper grill lip is used as the bottom hook point this is just my ocd, overkill mentality engineering. Not using the lower bracket will delete the two front exposed rivet or screw mounts.

The rivets can be easily painted over and hidden. My front lip covers the bottom bracket rivets in the front so I’m worried about them being in the front and opt for the support.

Now the hardest/scary part of this build……. Cutting the front fascia/rad support. You’ll have to remove and later relocated you horns. ⚠️Warning if you are clumsy, have no saws all control or cutting experience, or just don’t trust yourself! Nows the time to take out your radiator so you don’t run the risk of cutting into it!

Once you have everything clear out from behind and in front of where your going to cut you can place the bumper back on to mark where you’re hole line up in the front. You can technically split the upper support but to me it was easier just to cut the bottom straight out. The holes are roughly 3x4in (marked in yellow lines on photo). Please note too that the bottom corner section that you’ll cut is double layered so you will have to cut through both sections. Also be aware to not cut too deep and end up cutting into the 3 bolts that mount the tow hooks to the frame (just speaking from experience 🤦🏻‍♂️)

Make sure to prime and paint any cute areas of the front fascia so there is not exposed metal or rust points. Now the hard parts done you can slide the bumper on with the lights mounted now and see how well you did. You then use the provided wiring harness that comes with the kit to wire up and slide the button into a free slot. You will also have to extend you horn harness depending on where you relocated your horns and if they still can be connected as is.

Hi

Has anyone come up with a way to remedy this problem, since Honda no longer manufactures the OEM replacement? The stem and nut are fine but the ridges inside the base of the arm are worn down, so the arm doesn't move with the motor. We put shrink tubing on the stem but I'm sure it's only a temporary fix.

I figure junkyard parts are ultimately going to have the same problem, at least eventually. I really would prefer not to use anything that will permanently fuse the arm to the stem.

Does anyone out there have a fix for this?

Thanks in advance!

I have looked online and see that there are delete plugs for 88-2000 Civics but it does not specify if it will work for my wagon. I know this has been gone over before but the last post I can see was from years ago. Does anyone know of a wiper delete that will fit or something else that would fit such as an antenna delete plug from a different car? The one on my Integra antenna looked like it would almost fit the hole but I don't have it to check anymore. Thanks for any help in advance. I hope this is in the right section 🙃

I decided to try and put some Integra seats in the wagon today Surprisingly, it's fairly easily done.

Use the teg inner rail, and the wagon outer. The only mod to the teg inner rail is elongating the mounting holes toward the center:

SAFETY edit: Because the seat mounting holes were enlarged I added some heavy fender washers on the retainer bolts. This one in particular, as it's the seatbelt anchor as well:

the outer (wagon) rail just requires a few simple tweaks. This dimple has to be shaved off:

and this hole doesn't line up. I just drilled a hole and installed a bolt/nut...easy

shaved the wagon plastic trim a bit to fit up:

that's about all, except I used a 1.25" spacer at the front of the inboard/teg rails, between the mount and the floor...

The auto belts are plug-n-play, everything works! The driver's seat even has adjustable lumbar support

Has anybody done this cup holder mod?

That is from an ef hatchback.

All you need is a 92-95 Ford Taurus or 92-95 Mercury Sable Cup holder/Coin Holder, and an ef Center Console.
You put the cup and coin holder where the radio is and the radio where the equalizer would be on usdm center consoles. You can also cut the edm center consoles to make it fit.

This is how it looks like opened.

To make it fit where the radio is you need to take out the radio. Then you need to use a dremel to cut these corners off, there are 4.

Then you have to cut out the clip on the bottom.

Then it will slide in and the clips on the side will hold it.
These clips will hold it.

It looks great and almost like it came with the car.
I don't know how to put the radio in the center console though. I guess it will just slide in where the equalizer use to be.
I plan to do this in the future. I already got the cup holder for free from Pull and Save.

I haven't posted here in ages, and not exactly a member of any other Honda forum, but wanted this up somewhere if it helps someone else out. Sorry if this has been done before, I'm not terribly active on forums anymore...

For the past few years I've been occasionally living vicariously when it comes to Honda with my g/f's new (for her) '10 Civic sedan. I've done a bit of work on it here and there (though it's nice that it's a car that actually doesn't require a lot of work all the time) and she's also wanted to dress a few things up on it, albeit within reason (ya, I infected her with the mod bug :P ).

One of the things was the shift knob. She wanted to change it out, but wasn't interested on spending a fortune on just a shift knob either. She decided on the one she wanted and, it's a nice one, but they aren't made like they use to last I remember. I had a blue, leather Momo knob in my wagon back in the day and the set screws that came with it were pointed, so they dug right into the shift lever and never had a problem with it. Hers came with set screws that were flat, and I couldn't find any that were pointed anywhere locally.

No matter how tight I'd turn the flat set screws, the knob came loose after a while. I wanted to do something about it cause I didn't want the knob coming off on her, especially in an emergency situation. So here's what I did to make an aftermarket shift knob fit like OEM.

First, found a used, crappy-looking knob.

As you can see, scored one for free. Didn't wanna use a new knob or even a good one cause I hacked it up for the treads within:
(PS, turns out the OEM knob on the 8th gen has solid hunk of metal just under the shift pattern at the top)

Hacked and grinded away the knob until the tube of threads fit up into the aftermarket knob and let the JB Weld dry. I masked off the knob and shift boot clip to keep em clean.

And voila, and aftermarket knob that threads on like OEM.

I did this for her about a year ago and it's been a non-issue since. I should really take an interior pic one day...

Water puddles on right side below glove box after a rain. Not a huge amount, but enough.

So far, pulled the wipers, the large plastic cover and the rubber dam.
Cleaned out the area where water runs down the windshield and is supposed to exit the car below.
Turns out a rat had been living in there at some point (I've been breathing that in for 3 years? Disgusting)
Tried using #12 coated electrical wire to clear the drain but not sure I accomplished it.
Shouldn't have started this project with rain imminent as had to quit and tarp it.

Question:
Can't tell, where could the water be getting in? This model Honda doesn't have the heater box intake open to the engine (a common cause in other models) so how can water get down there as there is a black plastic cover (afraid to remove for fear of breaking it) over the access.
Also, any idea where I get replacements for the little black plastic rivets and caps I've broke so far?

Thanks for your advice!

I haven't seen any documentations on this notifications searching on Google. I do see there has been a few Wagons that has had this done.
Any advice, tips, suggestions would be appreciated!
