Thanks for all the kind comments, makes it worth while knowing there's other people who care about these Honda's. Most of my mates just think its cool because its a Civic and 4WD lol.
Day 56
Removed wing mirrors ready to prep and paint.
Noticed a cracked spring on the back, good job I have replacements.
Started prepping the roof bars ready to paint, as they had some harsh marks and corrosion.
Picked up some anti-freeze so I can change the radiator tomorrow.
And these little beauties arrived today in the post...
I'm a genuis!
Started a blanking off plate for the passenger side mirror. I had a spare that was broken, so thought I may as well. You US guys inspired me.
After I removed it from the main unit, which is near imposible!
After some dremmil action..
You could have taken the main unit apart so that it would have just came off so you didnt have to brake the base. Thats what i did with mine, but i'm sure you'll come out perfect anyways haha
I must admit, I've been very lazy the past few days, mainly because it's so damn hot, plus I've been selling quite a lot of stuff.
Today I have just sanded down a wing mirror and primered it.
All I have left to do now is spray the mirrors and front door handles, then it's off to be welded and sprayed. And the bodywork will be finished.
I also need to order a new sticker set for the boot hatch.
I need to fit the GL springs and new radiator before I book it in with the mechanic - to check the sump and gasket. It's a big job on the 4WD, so I would rather pay for it to be done.
I will also give the steelies and light refurbing to tidy them up.
Postman dropped off these this morning...
Volvo Bosch Halogen fog lamps, with covers - £15 delivered!
I will be adapting them slightly to look more Honda OEM/JDM.
Removed from the mounting they look almost identical to the Honda ones..
Here's how they look on the back of the bumper. A perfect fit one would say...
Painted up the front door handles. Notice one is different..
what are you going to use for a bucket for the front fogs? i was always curious how to go about cutting a hole in the bumper and not have a bucket of sorts (like the rear fogs do)

I didn't really thing about it to be honest, as I wanted to see what the fogs were like on the back. I will properly make a pair up out of an empty plastic bottle or something, then maybe melt it onto the rear of the bumper. I'll get plenty of pictures when I get round to it, don't worry.
Day 71
Front handles' done.
Only parts left to paint now are the springs and one wing mirror.
Welding is booked in for next weekend (18th). Still need to get it sprayed locally, but my contacts aren't getting back to me. I'm sure someone will come through with a good price.
*
Day 72
Did a bit more painting on the springs, they take a while longer to dry.
I've had to post-pone the welding as I need to get my current car sorted out, as it needs new outer CV joints, stem seals, manifold, and I have some ITR cams and a socketted ECU ready for it. gotta have the VT for the shows this year. 8)
if my celica is back from a rebuild in time i'll be going in that, otherwise i'll be in my shuttle, did you go last year?
no i havent been before, i got slated big time for not going last year.
get on www.4guk.co.uk dude, the admin has a Shuttle GL. you may have seen it there..?
Been a bit pre-occupied recently, and haven't been able to get much done apart from painting the springs.
I applied the yellow tinting film to the fog lights today. It was a lot harder to shape round than the indicators/sidelights - I had to do them twice, but I got there in the end.
Got round to fitting the new radiator, to only find out the next day its leaking in a few places... *sigh*
While I had the front end off I painted the cross-member..
And I fitted the fog lights.
It was quite a drama, but it's turned out ok. I dropped one lamp and it cracked a corner of the support piece of lense, so glued some perspex in and covered it with some more yellow film - you can hardly notice.
Switch wired up...
Wire poked through the bulk head and into the footwell...
Then up to the switch..
Fed the wire through the engine bay, keeping it hidden, and to the battery..
Next up was cutting the bumper. I made a template from the lamp out of paper...
Chop-chop!
Not perfect, but it doesnt need to be..
Bit of split tubing..
Now I needed to make up some brackets to mount to the chassis, as mounting them to the bumper wasn't happening.. :?
Test...
2nd attempt, all good 8)
Bumper on..
All done. I just need an early spec 16v lip now, and the front end is sorted.
So after some comments on 4GUK I realised I needed to wire in a relay, otherwise I would have a burnt out switch, which is not cool. Espcially when it's JDM y0!
So here's what I done.
Bought myself a relay...
Wired it up to the switch...
This time getting power from the fuse box, so less wires...
Zip-tied it up, keeping it out the way of the pedals and heater controls..
Here they are working before I bolted the bumper on... then one stopped working , so I'll have to have a look tomorrow. It must be the wire or connections if one is still working.
I also made a diagram.. it's all for the love ya'll! 8)
And last night I got a Renault Laguna splitter off a 4GUK member at a huuuge Civic meet last night, over 100 turned up I'd say! Fitted it today, and it looks wicked I think, much better than a Si/siR one - which comes up over the bumper, this sits flush with the bottom.
It took a bit of perswading to wrap round, but 2 snips and some bolts, and bob's your uncle...
Today I Nitromors'ed the roof bar feet, and sanded them down ready to paint later. Fitting these it the last thing I can do really, then it needs some professional's to take over.
And as I can't do much more, apart from still try and fix the fog light, I decided to give it it's first wash and wax, and it looks a lot better now.
While washing it though I did notice the rear drivers' tyre needs a new valve, as it's all rusted around it, all the wheels are going that way, so it's going to be a PITA painting that bit when I get round to it, and making sure it doesn't happen on any of the other wheels.

Getting there now, not much left to do.
Summer, summer, summer-time!! 8)
Finished the centre caps.
They were a bobbled effect plastic, so needed smoothing down and painted black. I also lacquered over the Mugen stickers.
Black dried...
Stickers and lacquer..
Did someone say JDM tight as fook y0!??

how does the main unit come apart though?

Then she's ready for the launch pad!
8)
Big envelope arrived from AceImages today. They are not all for the Shuttle.

Day 64
Base-coat on, first layer of top-coat...
Wing mirror's are fiddly f**ker's to do!
*
Day 65
One down, one to go...

Day 69
I won a Pioneer cassette headunit on ebay last week, and it arrived today.
Randomly came with a CRX/Civic harness too!
And I did some more painting on the springs... (they are taking a while)

That's all for today I think.

lots of new updates.
i love those wheels!
i can't wait to see it together!
Thanks!
I've started putting parts back on the past few days. I will update at the weekend. 8)
I'm going to take the front lip off and replace with a 16v CRX one as its a better fit and hangs lower.
The bootlid mid-section needs a respray and I will have to order some new decals for it too.
Rear wiper re-attached, even though it needs to be taken off again when it gets sprayed...
Fitted the JDM third brake light too. The holes for it to bolt to the bootlid had no thread there, so I just had to zip tie it.
My mum thinks it looks "smart". 8)
Shuttle is looking lovely mate, I need a lip for mine
thanks
i thought i was the only UK guy, apart from Craig.G, but he doesnt seem to come on much
most def! but not in the Shuttle, ill be in my Civic VT. 8)
