1990 Dx Wagon Teenage Budget Build

Hello virtual kingdom of the internet. This is my build thread. It's my first one and it's going to be reaaaaally slow and probably not updated that much at the beginning but I will update whenever there is something to update. The first thing I'm going to do is swap this nasty automatic dual point d16a6 for a manual multi point. This is going to be for as cheap as possible since I'm a senior in high school and that's the purpose of the build anyways. After I get the swap in, I'm planning on bolting on a t25 turbo for daily use. Now on to the car and the few pictures I have right now:

  • Thanks! Sounds fun! It's quite a drive, but I'll try to make it.

    Very nice wagon sir
  • Thank you sir.
  • Love the wheels! You might be able to just swap that thing to multiport. The d16a6 is a pretty good starting point for a turbo setup.
  • Thanks! Yea that's what my first plans are. I'm just gonna do a whole si swap so I kill two birds with one stone (mpfi and manual) and then that would be a good engine for me to dd with a turbo.
  • So I'm planning on going to "the yard" again soon and this might be a turbonoob question that I have researched but I'm still making sure I have it right: What cars does the t25, or any small daily-worthy turbo for that matter, come on?

stock eclipses/talon turbos are T25s, theyl have TDO5H cast into the housing, there also stock on nissan SR20DETs, but i dont think youl find one in the yard, you can use stock turbos from a couple different cars like a dodge omni, conquest TSi, or older ford probes, there all good start points
  • Alright thanks man, yea I was sure about the eclipse, conquest, and sr20. I'll probably just look for a probe then.
  • Well it seems the build is coming to an end on my wagon. Although my build was only just started I've had the car almost two years and I'm just gettin somethin different.

    What?? Noooooo! Keep the wagon!
  • keep it just get some thing else I have an 08 scion XB I will never sell my Wagon

I have three other Hondas and a VW - but I love my wagon!
  • Haha, I'm a high school student I can't afford another car. I like the wagon but I just need a manual car, if I can find another wagon that would be great! Don't worry though, I'm gonna keep it Honda for whatever I get ;D
  • Heres what you do:

    1)Keep the auto
    2)Hack the exhaust
2a)Pick up a cheap Subie turbo of a GL-10, mount
3)Chop the shit out of the springs
4)Fold down the rear seat for the ladies
    5)Profit

    Understand me, I'm pro!
  • Haha are you being sarcastic or forreal? I guess I should turbo with the automatic to keep it reliable but can I do mpfi with an auto? It would seem more difficult.
  • JDMWago666JDMWago666 Senior Wagonist
Yes MPFI can be done in the auto, you just need the auto harness, only two real differences. The valve on the Intake Mani and the plugs/wires for the tranny.
  • Oh snap! IF I keep it that's probably what I'll do for the moment.
  • In all seriousness, I had a friend with an Accord Coupe automatic. He dropped in a H motor and it ripped even being automatic. He did have to find a higher stall torque converter. I think a turbo auto wagon would be tits, turbo the DPFI. It aint gonna hurt anything if you are replacing the motor anyways and then you can learn a little about turboing shit.
  • That's probably something I would do while I'm waiting on the last few parts to swap it in just in case the dual point can't handle it haha.

Well it's been forever since I've updated but I'm still trying to get a job or source some money by selling parts to get some parts together. For now I'm doing small and free/cheap things like a/c delete, even though its almost summer in South Carolina. I'm picking up an almost mint front bumper and amber turn signals from pull-a-part on friday from a wagon I saw on the side of the road. I have a transmission my brother gave me but I need other parts like manual ecu, pedal assembly, etc.
