Disassembled the wagon a little more.

42654608442_b29f9fc29b_k.jpgWheels have been dissasembled. I'm having the centers powder coated to as close to the original finish as possible and having the barrels restored as well.

Mini update. Like to post at least something once a week to keep myself motivated and to also keep who ever is interested in the loop.

Detrimmed, repaired some dents, primed the hatch. For some reason the molding below the rear window was a pain to take out! I remember taking it off last time by just sliding it off but once I felt like it got it going, I would hit a stopping point. It wouldn't budge anymore. Anyways out of frustration I ripped the sucker out lol. I'm thinking of maybe taking a roof molding off some car and trimming it to fit. Probably use double sided tape to keep it on there idk yet. It should work.

We're getting closer to paint. Have a Fender, Hood and the shell that needs attention. All the other panels are pretty much ready for paint.

One of my MR5 wheels have a bend in them unfortunately. It's definitely repairable at least.

My older brother loves chemistry and he learned how to nickel plate. We are experimenting a little with my bolts.
Left is after 1 1/2 days of tumbling with walnut shell. Middle after 1 coat of nickel plating. 2nd after 2 coats of nickel plating. Pictures don't do it justice but 2 coats look really awesome.

Lookin' good SPW! A lot of work I can see....I know my hatch looks a lot like your before photo because it doesn't close cleanly (shoddy accident damage repair) and previous owners kept banging away at it anyway....sad.

It's quite bit of work. Not as much as the last one at least. pretty straight body to begin with. Made things a lot easier. Yea unfortunately people don't know what they are doing or just don't care how it turns out. They don't love wagons as much as we do.

Hahahah don't do it to me! I'm tired with this one alone lol.

Couldn't get much done to the wagon this weekend. Had to clean my C-Max and do some boring wagon related things.
    42935790772_9102988737_k.jpg
Oh and I installed a hitch for the C-Max to haul over the wagon to the shop.
    28117084297_58cd5de2bd_k.jpg
Had the quarter panel and windshield glass taken out of the wagon as well.

Took the carpet out, getting the jambs ready for paint and masked it off so no rain or whatever gets into it. Seems like I'm doing a lot more work which I am but unfortunately it has to be done in pieces.

The plan is to have it painted by the end of next month. Going to try to cut in all the parts that are off the car already within the next 2 weeks and then bring in the shell to be blocked, primed and cut in.

Not much going on. One of the body men at work is helping me with the bigger bits of body work. Hood is going to need quite a few primes.

That! Thank you! It's coming along slowly but surely.

Not much going on. My mugen barrels are refinished. Had the inner parts of the barrels powder coated and the lips brushed and cleared over. One of the barrels were very bent and the other barrels were slighlty bent through time and age. They were all straightened out as well. Waiting for the centers to be powder coated now.

Thanks! Came out too be $500.00. One wheel was really bent out of shape but repairable. The rest of them were slightly bent from normal use. I had them all straightened. Inner barrels were powder coated and the lips were machined and cleared over.

Been busy with life and haven't had much time too work on the wagon this last month but there is progress!

About a month ago now I did purchase a parts wagon to finish my wagon up. It's nice to have all of these additional pieces and references as to where all these bolts go back!

Parts wagon almost got crushed by a tree limb!
    43024526185_59c88d8750_k.jpg
Last week, my friend/painter at the shop cut in the jambs for me. He will be painting the wagon as well.

And today, I picked up the faces for the Mugens from the powder coat shop. Very pleased with how the wheels turned out so far. All that is left is to decide what I will be doing with the bolts and install the tires!

So after lots of going back and forth for a couple months I decided to perform a motor swap! I did purchase a motor and it should be here within the next couple of weeks. I will update thread as soon as I get it. Thanks for looking!

Hahaha I'm going to need a couple years to recover from this one!

Something came in the mail the other day.

I remember a while back I remember seeing one of the members on here painting an engine block with Steel-it. It looked awesome so I bought some to paint the transmission and motor. I have started to disassemble the motor to clean and prep.
    30021260147_a918bfc6e4_k.jpgThe product I mentioned above.

Motor needs to be sealed up to prevent water or any other chemicals from getting in. Some duct tape will do the trick. Time to clean.

  • Good lord!! Ok, I am sayin it now, I call first dibs when you sell it (bc apparently based on your history, that COULD happen!!)! That's going to be crazy. Is it going to retain A/C? Have you done a compression check ,etc? Where did you get it from? Sooo many questions....

Hahaha I wouldn't doubt it! I'm pretty sure I'll keep this wagon. Where I really messed up with the other wagon was thinking I could daily and have a project car at the same time lol. That didn't go to well. I think I will be doing a P/S delete but will retain A/C. It is super hot here in Florida. I want to enjoy the drive and not complain about it being hot. It's a motor from HMotors in very good shape!

Painted the block this weekend and fitted a kevlar spark plug cover.

    Degreased/wire brushed the block

Yea man I love the color too. Florida is the worst. Especially the humidity. Plan is to drive it year round for sure.

Build has been pretty slow and it will remain pretty slow for the next couple months. Have an operation being performed on me pretty soon so it will put me back a couple months. I almost have all the parts to get the motor and tranny mated. A couple pics to keep things interesting.
