Vitara D15B2 Wagon inside!

Some of you will know me already. Some of you wont. Well ive been doing the Honda thing for a good 6 or 7 years now. Been making big power on SOHC's for the last 3 or so years. Ive built two different 10 second setups, one non-vtec and one vtec. and i helped my friend darin get into the 10s last year as well.

Well.... i had an opportunity to get a wagon so i went for it!

picked up a 1990 civic wagon DX for a direct trade on my old 1996 jetta GLS. :bigok:

its got a few issues, for starters its automatic! yuk yuk! but dont worry my friends, the manual trans parts are waiting for me. all ill need to do is extend the pedals a little and i should be golden.

the fuel tank leaks a little, i still havent got under the car to check. i was told it was from the exhaust rubbing? we will see.

its on chopped OEM springs. but i got some stockers to throw in so its all good!

the purpose of this car is going to be a really fun DD that anyone in my family can drive and have fun in. i wont worry about dings and shit.

heres how she looks right now... just like a space shuttle!! lol.

as you can see, its dumped...

it came with HID's and a Y7. cool, a D16 i can boost on the cheap. no. not this time baby!

FJT hollered at me to run these forged D15B2 rods through the ringer... ok!

as it sits this block is 100% free. block was given to me. rods were provided for services. pistons and rings were donated to me. all i had to do was spend some money on bearings. sweet!!

so expect updates in the near future on a new windshield install on the wagon, a manual swap, and updates on the vitara d15b2 as well! oh and also a mpfi swap and obd1 conversion!

well i havent decided! part of me wants to go big... i got a t3/t4 50 trim sitting around so that i want to use... i also have a 14b sitting around i want to use

    14b = tq monster

    50 trim = rpm screamer

i cant decide!! i like the idea of the 14b because the car is going to be a DD town car. but i really like big turbos... i dunno... haha. im still undecided!!

heres a few more pics of the wagon for everyone to see. (see how crappy it really is! haha)

the only thing i HATE about it, is the wavy roof skin

well i managed to grab a few goodies for the wagon last night

a mint Si tranny, with both mounts needed for the swap. and a MT civic pedal assembly, clutch cable, and extra speedo cable if i need it.

got a MT Si gauge cluster lined for for $30 tonight as well.

Just need to find a decent clutch that will take the power from the boosted motor, and i can throw her together and drive it!

edit; damn i just realized i forgot to grab my linkage while i was getting parts!

    hey thanks for the welcome!

well my hatch struts are done... so i walked around the warehouse looking for stuff and i found a ford focus strut that was almost the same design and length. well i got home and popped out a stock one, and after a little fabbin it was ready to rock! but holy hell our hatches are heavy... so it looks like ill need another one (i only bought one for testing reasons) to see if it can even hold the hatch up... ugh!

    anyways....

heres a few more pics of the wagon... u can also see my GF's new MKII she just picked up.

haha its all good man. just thought it was funny :P

well i had some back luck recently with this D15b2!! it has a small snout, like a 88 D16A6... and i got the block without a crank pulley so i had to search.

so i had to contact the person i got the block from and it turns out he will trade me cranks for another one he has...

so i ripped the crank out (which sucks because i tear dropped the oiling holes and everything... sigh) and got a new crank in there!

with a crank pulley this time... :D

ok so id like some feedback from the viewers and lurkers

would you rather see a VTEC head (Y8 or Z6 i got both) with a Bisimoto 2.4 turbo cam clone (its a Delta 272-2). this will be about 8.0 to 8.3:1 CR

or should i take one of these D16A6 non-vtec heads, deck .080 off it, and run a Colt cam stage 2 NA cam? that would give me about 9:1 CR... but non-vtec of course.

shaving the nonvtec head would cost me $130, and id need to find an adjustable cam gear (probably a good idea anyways)

    what say you all?
  • kylerwhokylerwho Wagonist
run non-vtec. its something out of the ordinary.

i have no idea what any of that means so i flipped a coin lmao it said to go with vtec..then i asked the magic 8 ball and it said yes..thoes damn things never help out
  • DarinDarin Wagonist
hahahaha. too bad you still didnt have blackys old a6 head.
  • JakerJaker familEE
Use a Y8 head casting with the main caps/valves/springs and Y7 rockers/rocker shafts for a good flowing non-Vtec package. I guess that means you'll need a new cam!
  • danzdanz Wagonist
im not really interested in dropping a lot of coin into this setup... as it sits now the block didnt cost me a cent other than bearings....

im thinking ill just go with the y8 head and delta cam, and sell the colt cam.
  • danzdanz Wagonist
so im flip flopping about the non-vtec thing

i think ive decided to go Non-vtec and use my colt cam!

    its just simpler.

snapped a few pics of the wagon in its resting spot...

humm so you have the d16z6. Delta 272-2 cam for sale then..???
    if so how much..
  • danzdanz Wagonist
no im going to keep them as backups for my drag car... and just to have just in case...

i got three civics on the go, all with D's so the parts i got lying around are always backups for something or other!

give Jon @ Delta a phone call, the price for the 272-2 is pretty fricking cheappp.... less than half of a bisi cam.
