Rear Bench Seat Problems

So I'm having a hard time trying to get the rear bench seat to recline back to the correct seating position. When I bough my wagovan the rear beach was down so when I got it home I was able to fold the bench back up and fold the seat back down but then I can't get the back to go from any other position the straight 90° seating position or flat forward. When you open the door the back is in the way of the door so it is clearly not in its correct position. Any help would be nice, iv poked around and it all seems to be complete and un broken.
